Friday Kids Day

I am so over being a mom. Well, I am over being called mom. I would rather be B, Bitch, Lazy Ass, Cook...I could go on. That being said, the girls did start calling me Salon Maker. Sometimes the only way to get them to brush their hair or teeth is to pretend out bathroom is a Salon. Trust me. It is the only thing some days.
The Baby is on the warpath. No crafts today. I never thought I would say this, but I am kind of over holding my baby. Sad.
Over night with BFF. Here they are waiting for her. Without pants on.

And I am watching Weeds, so I am not paying attention.

Wednesday Link Love

It is official, I am a craft blog stalker.
I think I have OCD. I have an order to the sites I check; Gmail then Storeenvy then Facebook then One Pretty Thing then Etsy then, in a new tab, people.com, People of Walmart and Regretsy. Once I have satiated my daily character assassination, I pop back to One Pretty Thing and can waste 3 episodes of The Wire (or whatever current series obsession I am having) just going through blogs. In the end, I am over inspired that I slap my computer shut and forget all about them. Until about 4am, when I wake up and it all comes flooding in. At 4am, in my mind, I have a stenciled ceiling, a homemade chandelier in my bedroom, my bathroom is redecorated, sewing room is organized, I made about 7 outfits per child, designed a wedding dress, and solved the random stitching problem I had in a bag from earlier in the day. By 4:15, I am sound sleep dreaming about how I met JK Rolling and told her how she changed my life (which was really my dream last night. I had no idea Harry Potter had such an impact in my life).
Dinner tonight you ask? Roast chicken from Costco and instant Miso Soup. Picked one hell of a week to start being productive.

Tuesday Food Day. Really?

How good does that look? Yeah. I totally made it. No. No I didn't. My most favorite food porn site, Smitten Kitchen,  made this dousy. I may just try it. But today (and by today I mean yesterday, because I am just getting to it now) I made my good old standard; Chicken, Quinoa and sweet potatoes. And, lucky me, I got to eat it, mixed up in a Tupperware bowl racing to my pattern class.
I made an executive decision today to bypass the whole going-grocery-shopping thing and joined my kiddos at an amazing Children's Theater performance of Babe. Would much rather do that then food shop any day.

Monday Projects

And we are off! And my sewing machine broke. again. So, Monday Work Day turned into Monday wash-car-seats-and-spend-money-I-don't-have Day! Whoop Whoop!

First, if anyone is thinking of having children, consider the cleaning car seat process birth control. Pain. In. The. Ass.
Second, I hate computers. That's totally not true. Sorry. But, I do love my new sewing machine. It is not a computer. And that actually makes me happy.
The name and flowers on the other hand, um, not so much.
Needless to say, not much sewing done today. Maybe later...

Single Mom with Lunch Bags, will travel.

For about 12 more hours. My Husband hightailed it down south in an effort to combat the winter blues. From the sound of it, it is working. Everyone has been asking when it is my turn to take off, but, honestly, I dig winter and I love being home. So maybe some one can just come and take my kids for 5 days? Anyone?
I am used to having Friday nights sans hubby and I have come to really enjoy it. Don't get me wrong, I like it when he is gone. Just kidding. I love spending time with him, but on Friday nights, the girls and I usually eat popcorn and watch a movie. Then they go to bed and I have TV control and spread laundry out on the floor to fold. Good times. Tonight though, I am sick of my kids so I did not sit with them to watch a movie. I honestly could not sit by them because they were driving me nuts. One night a week is one thing, but 4 is a bit much.  God I am spoiled.
So while they zoned out to the TV, I did some appliqué cutting and ironing. Ahem, can I get a what what?!
I have these snack sacks (32 years old and the word sack still makes me giggle) all ready to go. Now I just need to figure out what to line them with. They will be used to hold food, so I am wanting to go chemical free. Ridiculously difficult to do. If I want it water-resistant/proof, then my only real option is to use PEVA material. But, even that is not proven safe. I can just use muslin, but then it can stain. PEVA material is impossible to find, Muslin is everywhere. PEVA can just be wiped down and laundered occasionally, muslin may have to be washed more often. So, Mr/s. Chemical Engineer? I want either a single ply, water resistant/proof, food safe material or a product I can spray/paint/dip other fabric into to be water resistant/proof and food safe. Get on it.

My Store is Open!

I am super excited! Check out my new store!
I still have an Etsy account, but I am fairly overwhelmed by it. So, I found this awesome place where that supports independent designers and seems a bit more manageable. I am leaning more toward the more manageable side, less of the considering myself a designer. I am more of a crafter. Or a make-shit-up-and-hope-something-actually-looks-good-er.
Take a look and let me know what you think. And by that I mean tell me I am pretty and have beautiful products.
The link to the store is on the sidebar.
I think I am going to throw up because I am scared you will judge me. I am better now, mainly because I remember that I have a blog, which pretty much is an invitation to judgement.
Oh, and I got my hair cut. Just thought I would let you know.

That was fun

1.11.11 came and went. So far, I am holding to the non-resolution resolution. I am loving the things that I am doing, but do wish I could do more of it. I haven't sewn in a few weeks (enter sniff sniff here). I realize that is what I really love doing right now. Not because it can make me money (someday), but because I honestly love doing it. Who knew?! Taking a pattern design class, signed up for a pattern sizing class and a serger class and can not wait to soak it all in and use the skills to create messes! I love it. I can not wait until this all comes together. More news to come!
